About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified and experienced psychodynamic psychotherapist providing a warm, supportive and non-judgmental space for you to bring whatever it is you feel the need to talk about. I am there to listen to you with empathy and to help you think about your feelings, however difficult they may be. I have experience of working with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety/panic, difficulties with relationships, bereavement/loss, abuse, anger issues, low self-esteem, feelings of emptiness/meaninglessness, interpersonal trauma, work-related problems, difficult family relationships and issues around fertility, pregnancy and parenthood.

I am a registered member of the BPC and the BACP and work under their ethical code. I hold a professional qualification in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy as well as a previous qualification in Psychodynamic Counselling. I have also completed an MA in Psychoanalytic Studies and a previous degree in Psychology and Counselling.

Practice description

It can be hard trying to cope on your own. Talking to a trained professional helps you make sense of your thoughts and feelings and it means you have somebody on your side while you face difficult times. My approach is psychodynamic, which means I explore with you both your conscious and your unconscious mind in order to facilitate long-lasting change.

Therapy can be arranged to last a set number of sessions if you want to address a specific issue. For more complex problems it may be better to work with an open-ended contract. This means that the therapy continues for as long as you need it. During the first session we decide together what feels most appropriate for you.

My first session

Developing personal rapport is important and the initial consultation gives both of us a chance to see if we can work together. It also provides you with the opportunity to bring up any questions or concerns.
