About me and my therapy practice

My Approach to Counselling

I take an interested humanistic approach to therapy, that everyone deserves unconditional positive regard, empathy and compassion and to learn how to become compassionate towards themselves. The therapy space will be safe and I believe that everyone has the resources and resilience to move towards change.

Relationship building is the foundation of my counselling approach, I believe that exceptional work and progress is achieved when a relationship gains trust and confidence. The client needs to trust me and I need to trust the client, the whole process is always a two way street. Counselling relationship is built on Unconditional Positive Regard, Empathy and Congruence (Realness), once these are in place and felt; therapy happens. I strive to create a positive and safe place for the client to share their issues/problems and never think I know more about you than you do.

My Counselling approach is centred around the client, I am trained in Person- centred Counselling, Transactional analysis and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Counselling does not need to be narrow or singular I believe that it can be tailored to the needs and wants of the client. My approach can either work with your here and now issues or go deeper into unresolved childhood situations which need working through.

I sincerely believe that people have the courageousness to move forward in a way that is meaningful to them in therapy. I value connection, and that all people should be treated with the utmost respect and as a human being with human rights in therapy space.
