Features

Availability

Initially I suggest a free of charge exploratory chat. Here we can establish your reasons for seeking therapy and whether we can work together.

Whilst I currently have limited availability left in my diary, I aim, where possible to offer at least some flexibility in the times I can offer.

I also offer concessionary rates for students and those experiencing financial crisis, believing that therapy should be accessible to all.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified, full time counsellor, working both face to face and remotely to best suit the comfortability of yourself. This can be via video call, or telephone based on your preference.

I recognise that reaching out and exploring certain topics can be unnerving and therefore respect the importance that the role of the relationship held between yourself and your counsellor holds. I offer a professional, yet empathetic, non-judgemental space.

I come with both lived, as well as professional experience in many areas. I've five years of professional practice working with people from a diverse range of backgrounds, coming with a range of difficulties. These include but are not limited to: LGBTQI+ (surrounding identity, sexuality, and relationships romantically and with friends and family), loss and bereavement, relational issues, identity, self-esteem, panic attacks, domestic abuse and violence, including rape, suicidal ideation, anger, and depression.

I am passionate about mental health and who my services reach. I work in accordance to the BACP's Ethical Framework For Good Practice and undertake regular supervision, and continued professional development.

Practice description

Working from a person-centred model, I place you at the core of the process, recognising that your experiences are individual and unique. I will always try to ensure that I am right alongside you within the topics we discuss, understanding that I cannot know your experiencing better than you. I therefore gain the best understanding that I can of your frame of reference, so that collaboratively we can gain real understanding of what these things mean to you and begin to enable you towards positive change and growth.

Whilst working from an approach whereby I believe you know your experience best, I am known for my straight talking, analytical, yet tentative questioning and hypothesising within discussion. This allows us to broaden the topic of discussion and begin to really understand experiencing at a deeper level. I do this in a warm, non-judgemental way, that is professional, personal, and intuitive; striving to always provide an environment that you feel safe within.

My first session

Prior to a first session, I encourage a free 15-20 minute exploratory interaction to establish whether we are a good match to work with one another. This allows for us to establish the reasons that you are looking to come to therapy and resolve any anxieties that you may have surrounding that.

Should we agree to this, during our first full session, we would go over the terms of therapy and the information sheet (these will have been previously sent to you). We can then further explore your reasons for coming, your hopes from the sessions and begin to navigate our way toward that.

Practice description

The Practice is in a lovely quiet location, allowing for a good confidential space. It has parking and access to the rear of the property.

It is a ground floor layout, although cannot be approved as suitable for wheelchair users due to a step up to access the front door, and standard size doors fitted.
Men's toilets are on ground floor, however, women's is up one flight of stairs.

Working from a person-centred model, I place you at the core of the process, recognising that your experiences are individual and unique.
