About me and my therapy practice
Hello! I’m Erika, and I’m here to offer you support if you’re ready to make positive changes in your life.
Are you sick of anxiety, depression, loneliness or low self-esteem? And of trying to put on a brave face while hurting inside?
We all feel distress from time to time and try to smile through it.
But it’s tiring to pretend that we’re well when we’re not. And it’s life-limiting to live with stubborn anxiety, depression, loneliness or low self-esteem.
What would your life look like if you weren’t weighed down by these challenges? And if you didn’t have to waste your energy pretending that everything’s fine? How would you feel? Who would your friends be? What could you achieve? What dreams would you pursue?
Don’t struggle in silence anymore. It’s sensible to reach out for professional support, and it’s healing to talk.
I’d love to walk with you on your journey of working through your difficulties.
I believe that you and your unrepeatable life matter too much to allow anxiety, depression, loneliness or low self-esteem to limit you.
I have been there. I have been limited by all these difficulties. But I have also experienced first-hand the power of counselling as a client. I found it so transformative that, after years in teaching and care, I retrained as a counsellor. Now I work with adults who seek to overcome anxiety, depression, loneliness or low self-esteem and find their way to a more satisfying life.
My clients tell me I’m easy to talk to because I don’t judge. It’s important to me that you feel comfortable and deeply heard, understood and valued. In my sessions, ALL your thoughts and feelings are welcome, including those that have been deemed “unacceptable” by some. We can look lovingly at what’s going on for you at your own pace.
I welcome people from all cultural backgrounds and minority groups. I have experienced many implications of being different and belonging to minorities.
Are you ready to pave a new path for yourself? Do get in contact. I’m here for you.
Practice description
I help adults and older adults on a one-to-one basis to:
• explore and make sense of the difficulties and distress they are experiencing,
• identify their needs and wants,
• rediscover and reclaim their personal power,
• identify the resources, support network and opportunities available for them,
• make the changes they desire.
How I work as a counsellor
As a person-centred counsellor, I offer a space of safety and freedom,
• where you can turn up just as you are (depressed, anxious, having traumatic memories, unhelpful habits, turbulent feelings or hardly any feelings) and be valued;
• where you can explore, discover, understand and start valuing yourself;
• where you can become aware of your capacity to take charge of your life;
• where you can change in any way you choose to.
My first session
The first session is all about us getting to know each other.
We’ll talk about what has brought you to therapy, and what you'd like to achieve through therapy.
I’ll tell you a bit about my way of working.
You can ask me any questions related to how I work and what you can expect in the sessions.
We'll also negotiate an agreement on how we'll work together.
We'll talk about confidentiality, about how I make sure that I practice ethically, and about other practical issues.
