About me and my therapy practice

Are you feeling stressed, anxious and or depressed? Are you struggling to understand why you are feeling like you do? Maybe you have been or still going through a life-changing event which has left you emotionally overwhelmed. I work with a wide range of concerns and difficulties, empowering my clients to regain control of their lives and move forwards happier and healthier.

Hello, my name is Joanne and I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor.  I provide bespoke counselling from my home, in a quiet, relaxing confidential, safe space. I offer both long and short-term counselling sessions and believe the most crucial part for success in therapy is the relationship between the client and their therapist. Developing a trusting and safe bond will enable you to talk through whatever difficulties you are experiencing. I will listen in a compassionate non-judgmental manner and offer you the time to explore your innermost thoughts and feelings.

Practice description

I thought I'd share a little bit about who I am and how I became an integrative counsellor. In previous jobs working in behaviour management and special educational support, I worked closely with children and families who were struggling to cope and I always felt I wanted to do more. Therefore, when the opportunity arose, I enrolled as a mature student at university to study a BA Honours in Integrative Counselling Theory and Practice, where I gained a first-class honours degree. As a condition of undertaking the course, I had to have numerous hours of personal counselling. This offered me a great deal of insight into my own way of being and has given me the confidence to grow in both my personal and professional life. Therefore, I have first-hand experience with how daunting and challenging counselling can be. I have had a wealth of life experience including childhood trauma and dealing with stage two breast cancer- of which thankfully I am in remission and surgical menopause. I am passionate about counselling and understand the value of how it can have a positive impact on people's lives and believe that everyone should have access to therapy and counselling. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or are unclear about how I can assist or support you. If I am unable to help you with your difficulty, I will seek to provide you with alternative support.
