About me and my therapy practice

I work with clients experiencing relationship and sexual issues. I am a qualified and experienced Couple and Individual Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, currently completing further training as a Psychosexual therapist. I trained at the internationally-renowned Tavistock Relationships in London where I continue to work as a visiting clinician. I also work in an NHS setting, and my private practice is both online and in person.

Practice description

In relationships we can be driven by strong emotions, sometimes without even realising it. Making space to explore these emotions and think about them with a therapist, can help you to recognise what's going on under the surface.  This can be empowering, even lifechanging for many clients. This is perhaps even more apparent in the sexual relationship, where anxiety, the longing to connect, and concerns about our bodies can contribute to sexual problems.

I will work with you to help you think about what is going on underneath the more obvious, visible challenges that you are facing in your relationship or your sex life.

Psychosexual therapy explores the use of both psychological and behavioural approaches to improve the sexual relationship or function.

Psychodynamic therapy focuses on the psychological aspects of how a couple fit together, allowing space to go deeper into patterns of relating and the challenging emotions that make all relationships difficult at times.

In my practice I use both approaches as needed and we can discuss your specific needs in your initial consultation, and think about whether therapy with me would be helpful.

Common reasons that couples and individuals come to therapy include:

  • Communication issues
  • Arguments
  • Preparation for marriage or commitment
  • Affairs
  • Feeling there is too much distance
  • Feeling there is a lack of space
  • Separation
  • The birth of a child
  • Retirement
  • Sexual issues
  • Loss of the 'spark'

Common sexual problems affecting couples and individuals include:

  • Lack of sex
  • Unreliable erection
  • Premature ejaculation
  • Delayed ejaculation
  • Vaginismus
  • Female genital pain
  • Differences in level of desire
  • Lack of orgasm
  • Sexuality
  • Lack of confidence in sex
  • The impact of religious faith on sex life

and many other reasons, unique to the individuals and couples.
