About me and my therapy practice
I am a warm, genuine and accepting counsellor who will support you in a confidential and safe space. I am in intuitive person, who builds trust naturally and with care. Whatever is happening in your life, whether you are going through sadness, loss, uncertainty, anxiety, conflict, feeling stuck or not enough, then my aim is to help you to feel truly understood, listened to and enable growth.
As well as my counselling role, I work in the NHS as a wellbeing practitioner -supporting patients with chronic health conditions to improve their mental and physical wellbeing and health outcomes. I have worked for over 27 years in person-focused roles (including mental health, guidance, wellbeing and advocacy).
My Qualifications: MBACP (Reg), MA Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice, PG Dip Careers Guidance, BSc Hons Sociology.
Practice description
I am a Person Centred Therapist (appreciating your viewpoint, from your experience). I can also draw upon other therapies, such as CBT and emotion focusing.
You can read a brief outline about the types of therapy here: https://www.bacp.co.uk/about-therapy/types-of-therapy/person-centred-counselling/
https://www.bacp.co.uk/about-therapy/types-of-therapy/integrative-counselling/
I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I adhere to strict ethical guidelines. I undertake personal supervision once a month. This ensures that my clients are getting the best possible care and support.
My counselling training took place at Age UK, Wirral - with the emotional health and wellbeing service. This allowed me to understand a diverse range of client's and their experiences, from aged 18-70's+. The Brain Charity Liverpool enriched my experience in working with people and their families living with neurological conditions.
My first session
FREE 20–30-minute assessment/chat by phone offered without obligation to book a session:
Once you have contacted me via this website, we can arrange a convenient time for you to have an informal chat over the phone and discuss your issues (and whether you would like to book any sessions). This will give you a good idea of whether you would like us to work together.
If you decide to move forward and book a first session- It will give us an opportunity to look at the reasons for why you are seeking counselling, put a brief counselling contract in place, discuss boundaries and confidentiality.
