I am qualified as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist through Goldsmiths College’s MA Programme, achieving a distinction.  I also have qualifications in CBT training though Oxford University and Humanistic counselling, also through Goldsmiths.

I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space for individuals to explore the questions and issues which may be causing difficulties in their lives. People seek psychotherapy for many reasons, and the emphasis in our work will be exploring what is important to you, at a pace which suits you.

Currently, I work principally face-to-face but with some availability for online work.  I have some spaces at the moment in my diary including evening and early morning times.

About me and my therapy practice

I keep an open mind about which of my counselling approaches will best fit the challenges brought to therapy and an individual's way of working.

The psychodynamic school of psychotherapy though is the approach I tend to use the most.  As the most longstanding of therapy approaches that considers both a client’s past and present, it can uncover what may be preventing them from living fully.  This approach can be especially useful when clients start therapy with feelings of 'stuckness', anxiety, depression and/or confusion.

Additionally, I draw upon different counselling approaches and other philosophies offering valuable guides on the task of living well.  For example, I have found that my training in short-term CBT therapy can be very effective when working with OCD or other obsessional behaviours as well as navigating the emotional residue of a specifically upsetting event in your life.

Regardless of approach, I focus on building trusting and respectful therapeutic relationships which enable individuals to feel able to speak about anything they wish to – perhaps the only space in their lives where they can do so.

I have experience working with children, adolescents and adults on a one-to-one basis.  As well as my private practices, I work in a school as a counsellor and at the other end of the spectrum, with a charity that supports the elderly.  I find the variety of counselling people of different ages in different settings rewarding and stimulating.

I am also a Trustee at a charity that offers support to the bereaved.

Practice description

Are you stressed, depressed, anxious or sad? Do you have relationship issues at home, work or elsewhere? Or is any other area of life not working as well as you’d like?  I’m here to help you find peace, answers and solutions by giving you the tools to manage whatever life brings (or throws at) you.

My specialist area is supporting individuals with relationship issues, trauma, stress, depression, anxiety, anger, illness and loss. I also work with people who have low esteem and self-confidence and people who struggle with anxiety, ADHD, the ripple effect of ADHD and obsessive behaviours.

My offer is an honest, open and transparent way of being. I will hold a space for you that feels dependable and trustworthy and we will work at a pace that feels right for you.

My first session

After a conversation on the phone to establish if we both feel we might work together, our first session will focus on finding out more about you, how the current issues are affecting you and what impact this is having on your well-being. Some of this session will also involve going through a contract and confidentiality.

My role is to listen, not give advice or tell you what to do. What we can do is together look at tools that may be effective in helping you, and explore ways of looking at a situation or issue differently.
