About me and my therapy practice

I have over 10 years experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist and have had the privilege of counselling a  variety of people in different settings, including the voluntary sector as the manager of a counselling charity for many years. This diversity of people and issues is important to me as I view each person as a unique individual. I want to understand your experience from your perspective, before working with you to remove blocks or to make changes which will alleviate distressing emotions or navigate difficult circumstances. I use an integrative model to do this, as it allows me to adapt my therapeutic model to your needs. Although I draw on a number of counselling models including person-centred, cognitive behavioural and psychodynamic models, my focus is on our relationship and creating a space where you feel safe and heard. We can then work together to make the changes necessary for you to move forward with greater self awareness and hope.

Practice description

I work with adults both short-term and long-term. At present I am conducting all my sessions securely online or on the telephone.

My first session

Our first session is online and will normally last 60 minutes. The fee is the same for the initial and subsequent sessions. We will talk about your reasons for coming to counselling and what you are hoping to gain from our sessions.  It is an opportunity for me to understand what is bringing you to counselling, and for you to ask any questions about counselling that you may have. At the end of the initial session, we can discuss if you would like to continue working with me, and how we move forward, as well as agreeing the number of sessions initially, which we can then review.
